Although Pownce may just be “Twitter, with 4 types of messages” I must say I enjoy it a lot more than Twitter. I never could wrap my head around Twitter, I just couldn’t understand the concept. Now that the idea has been out there for awhile, and there are varying takes on that idea, it makes more sense to me – and seems a worthwhile community to involve myself in as well.
Yes, Pownce needs an API and yes, it needs a mobile interface. But, Pownce is far from the shipwreck that Dave Winer describes it as.
To me, it’s a more intelligently designed, fun to use, much more stable and speedy, Twitter-like communication tool. Where Twitter is an old and falling apart coral reef, Pownce is the brand-new sunken ship where all the fish are like, “sup? We’re going over to that new ship man – heard it’s going to become a sweet reef here soon.”
